About Ray
Ray Byrd is a Colorado business leader and public servant who has built his career on strengthening organizations, serving communities, and delivering practical solutions to complex challenges.
Ray currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of The Tendit Group, a Colorado-based facilities services company operating across multiple western states. In this role, he leads organizational strategy, workforce development, and operational performance across several divisions. His work focuses on building strong teams, improving operational efficiency, and positioning organizations for long term growth.
Ray’s professional background spans sales, operations, transportation, fleet management, and large scale operational leadership. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for managing complex organizations, leading large teams, and overseeing multimillion dollar budgets across multiple regions of the United States.
Earlier in his career, Ray served as an executive with PepsiCo, where he relocated from Maryland to Colorado in 2014 to oversee fleet operations across the western United States. Following his retirement from PepsiCo in 2019, he joined Pioneer Landscape Centers as Vice President of Transportation and Distribution, helping guide operational strategy during a period of significant company growth.
Alongside his professional career, Ray has remained deeply committed to public service. He currently serves as a Trustee for the Town of Firestone, where he works with fellow community leaders to guide responsible growth, strengthen infrastructure planning, and support policies that protect the quality of life for residents while preparing the town for the future.
Ray also serves on the Board of Directors for the Denver Regional Council of Governments, one of the state’s most influential regional planning organizations. In this role he collaborates with leaders from across the Front Range on transportation, infrastructure, housing, and long-term regional planning initiatives that impact millions of Coloradans. He previously served on the Firestone Finance Committee, helping provide financial oversight and budget review for the town.
Ray remains active in several industry organizations and leadership groups. He serves on the Executive Board of Directors for the Colorado Motor Carriers Association and on the Board of Directors for the National Private Truck Council, where he contributes to national discussions on transportation safety, workforce development, and industry best practices.
A Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Ray believes strongly in the values of service, integrity, and faith centered leadership. These principles have guided both his professional career and his commitment to the communities he serves.
Ray believes Colorado’s continued success will depend on thoughtful leadership that balances economic growth, infrastructure investment, and the preservation of the communities that make the state unique. He believes leaders must work collaboratively across business, local government, and regional organizations to address long term challenges such as transportation, workforce development, and sustainable growth.
